Paige Bresky takes VIP TV to new heights as she visits Evolux Transportation in South Florida. Paige gives us a first-hand look at EvoLux's SkyShare services by taking a ride with South Beach Helicopters, one of the many Helicopter Charter Operators on EvoLux's reservation app, to and from an exclusive event with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars at the Palm Beach Raceway.

The online helicopter booking portal EvoLux now has 200 helicopters enrolled in the system in eight major metropolitan areas, among them New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami. Founder Ray Leavitt says he is readying the company for the “next level” as he seeks an investment seed round of $5 to $10 million.

Can't afford to hire a helicopter? Florida company EvoLux Transportation is offering a service in Chicago called SkyShare, which aims to make helicopter rides more affordable. The company is working together with Vertiport Chicago, which opened in April on the Near West Side.

When you pick Uber Pool, you have to enter your route. If anyone else wants to come on that route, your driver can pick up up to three others. The ride may take a bit longer -- but it’ll be cheaper.

Uber pool is a way to get cheaper rides on the road. But if you want a cheaper ride, say, in the air, in a helicopter, Well Skyshare is your answer -- and it’s now available in Chicago.

Say you live in the far west suburbs and want to go to a Blackhawks game in the city, but don’t want to sit in traffic. You can head online and find airports or heliports closest to home and the big game, and reserve a seat on a helicopter to get you there quickly.

Then up to five others can choose to jump in with you to help split the cost.

At least 70 people are participating, said Ray Leavitt, who works with Enterprise Development Corporation of South Florida, a co-sponsor of the event and incubator partner. Startup Weekend starts and ends at the FAU College of Business, but in between the teams work at the incubator. People sign up as developers, designers or non-technical participants, but all can pitch their business idea.
While a mobile application is easier to develop during a weekend, businesses can be anything and not necessarily technology driven.
“Our goal is just to make sure everything is bubbling with activity here” in Palm Beach County and South Florida, Leavitt said. Show less

Ray Leavitt envisions a future in which helicopters and vertical takeoff planes, routed by his software platform, shuttle commuters for a pricey fare around south Florida and other congested metros. The 25-year-old’s dream isn’t that far-fetched. The model for his EvoLux Transportation is based on research Georgia Tech conducted for the Atlanta Olympic games on an aerial transport system, which Leavitt is evolving with newer technology for commuter use.
