Tech-Long USA Expansion
On August 24, 2015, Tech-Long USA announced plans to expand their operation in Duluth, GA. This Chinese company is a supplier of high-technology packaging systems and turn-key solutions to the bottling and packaging industries. This project is expected to invest $5 million and create 130 new jobs.

Comcast Regional Headquarters Expansion
On February 17, 2015, Comcast announced that they will expand and make their new Peachtree Corners location in Gwinnett County their southeastern regional headquarters. This project is a retention of 532 existing employees, plus an additional 150 new jobs are expected. Comcast’s new 88,000-square-foot state-of-the-art location will feature four floors, a high-tech demonstration lab, and a Comcast University space for employee training and continuing education.

Dasan Machineries
On May 15, 2014, Dasan Machineries of South Korea announced their first manufacturing operation in the US. They make high-precision machining manufacturer of steel parts and components for the defense, auto and avionic industries. The company will invest $30 million in an existing facility in Duluth, GA and will create 150 new jobs. The location will also be their US headquarters.

Dennis Group, LLC
On November 1, 2013, the Dennis Group, LLC announced a new office in Gwinnett County. The company expects to create 35 jobs for the planning, architectural, process engineering, and construction management services for the food and beverage industry. This project will service metro Atlanta and the southeastern US markets. The company is headquartered in Springfield, MA.

WIKA Instruments Expansion
On September 13, 2013, WIKA Instruments LP announced plans to add 250 employees to their U.S. headquarters in Lawrenceville, GA. This expansion will increase their employment from 600 to 850 jobs. WIKA is a global leader in pressure, temperature, and level measurement instrumentation and one of the more than 70 German companies located in Gwinnett County.

Seneca Steel Erectors
On May 1, 2012, Seneca Steel Erectors announced their decision to locate in an existing facility in Darlington, SC. This division specializes in the maintenance and repair of stoker systems for large industrial boilers. A minimum of 15 new jobs are expected.

Nucor Steel Expansion
On February 1, 2012, Nucor Steel announced a $120 million expansion to their mill in Darlington, SC. This project will provided additional coiling capability for their bar stock and significant modernization of their facility. 25 new jobs are expected with an average salary of $75,000/year.

Sonoco Products Company Expansion
On December 13, 2012, Sonoco Products Company announced a $100 expansion at their campus in Hartsville, SC. $75 million of the investment is for new biomass boilers to replace outdated coal-fired boilers. 10 new direct jobs are expected along with a minimum of 30 support jobs.

PolyQuest Expansion
On August 16, 2011, PolyQuest announced plans to invest $8 million and create 20 new jobs at their facility in Darlington, SC. PolyQuest is the largest distributor of virgin and recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins in North America. The new facility will be 80,000 sq. ft.

E. & J. Gallo East Coast Operation

E. & J. Gallo announced on June 15, 2021 the selection of Chester County, SC as the home of their new east coast operation. They will build 1.5 million SF, invest $423 million, and create 496 jobs for Phase 1. This project is a gamechanger to not only Chester County, but also for metro Charlotte.

The Peer Tour is a bus trip with elected and community leaders to visit nearby cities and areas to learn best practices on redevelopment. Past visits have included Decatur, Woodstock, West Village, Old Forth Ward, Emory Point, and White Provisions in Metro Atlanta, and out-of-town visits have included Macon and Greenville, SC. The Redevelopment Forum has grown to around 300 attendees…

The Redevelopment Forum has grown to around 300 attendees from around Metro Atlanta. The Forum highlights trends in redevelopment and opportunities in Gwinnett County for real estate developers.
