  • Thready: Fetchnotes for Sharing

Starting in May of 2014, started working on an overhaul of the sharing paradigm in Fetchnotes. Worked heavily in OmniGraffle, Quartz Composer and Sketch to identify approaches and design the mobile application experience of shared notebooks, and the implications of having shared a space where people can collaborate together on notes. After deciding to build a separate application for collaborative note-taking, we rethought our approach and decided to build web-first, and I was tasked with…

Worked heavily in OmniGraffle, Quartz Composer and Sketch to identify approaches and design the mobile application experience of shared notebooks, and the implications of having shared a space where people can collaborate together on notes. After deciding to build a separate application for collaborative note-taking, we rethought our approach and decided to build web-first, and I was tasked with designing the interface, branding, and overall experience for the application. Built a framework/guide to approaching front-end and components for the app. Worked closely with two other engineers to help build the backend. Designed and engineered an activity stream (using Redis lists, Faye websocket messaging) and a similar notifications system for the web application, handling everything from interface to back-end for those features. Released iterations early to gather user feedback and iterated daily from there.

  • Fetchnotes Web Application

Worked closely with another engineer to design and build a web application that re-used core library code from our iOS application. We built and launched a new web app (moving from Ember to Angular) in 21.

  • Facemash

ENGR 100, Gaming for the Greater Good:

Worked in Python and led a group of 4 people to build a game that aimed to serve as therapy for children on the autism spectrum. Designed the interface and led engineering on a game that helped children recognize and emulate facial expressions to match an approriate emotion. Utilized OpenCV and its python bindings to do face tracking and recognition, while rewarding the kids with virtual stickers based on their performance.

  • Fetchnotes Reminders

Worked closely with another engineer over the first six months of 2014 to build a cross-platform reminders service that utilizes natural language parsing of time and dates to suggest reminder recommendations on notes, and allows easy setting of reminders from scratch. Designed and built and interface to allow easy input of these natural language strings using may iterations of prototypes, OmniGraffle flows, and Sketch mockups. Designed and built and interface to allow easy input of these natural language strings using may iterations of prototypes, OmniGraffle flows, and Sketch mockups. Helped build the Flask backend that powered the scheduled email reminders, helped design the syncing algorithms that allowed us to take micro-service approach (separate backend for our reminders system vs. building on top of our notes infrastructure) to expand our capabilities.

  • Fetchnotes Branding Overhaul

    -

Worked on an overhaul of the company's branding (logo, copywriting, illustration style) during my first summer there, working in Sketch and Illustrator. Worked closely with two other designers to design a visual style that captured the playful but productive nature of our software. Helped design a logotype, mascot, and illustration style that is still used today.
