The basic premise of the AI Factory is to empower data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop, deploy, and maintain machine learning solutions in an enterprise production context. Broadly, this project illuminates happy paths to production deployment that reinforce best practices by implementing them transparently and extensibly by default. All aspects of the framework, shared libraries, and templates are inner-sourced, i.e. any BT employee can see and contribute to them or fork them to create a bespoke solution, so no team need wait on a central organization's delivery calendar. As noted in the news release at the project url, this approach enables teams to deliver new production systems in under a calendar week, and all with proper enterprise governance.
