FIRST Robotics is organization which allows high school students to imagine and design robots to compete in various challenges and competitions. The organization aims to get students interested in the science and technology fields while providing them with fun, hands-on experience they can use in the real world. The organization aims to get students interested in the science and technology fields while providing them with fun, hands-on experience they can use in the real world. I have served as a mentor for Detroit International Academy for Young Women, an all girls school in the Detroit Public Schools System. My role as a mentor was to provide technical guidance, organization, and moral support for the team. It is amazing to see a team of girls create a brand new robot in 6 weeks every year, even when some students have little to no experience. I really enjoy helping to inspire these young women to get creative with science and technology!

    Abstract from publication:
CuInSe2 and its solid solution with other trivalent metals (M) have emerged as technologically significant device materials with applications in photovoltaics, thermoelectric, nonlinear optics, etc. However, the complex chemical composition and large tolerance of the CuMSe2 structure to a wide range of off-stoichiometry generally lead to the formation of undesirable impurity binary phases and electronic defects during fabrication starting from elements. In this work, we demonstrate a simple and elegant strategy for the synthesis of CuInSe2 with improved control over the chemical composition. The reaction proceeds via a redox induced phase transformation of the line compound copper diselenide (CuSe2) upon incremental addition of elemental indium. Taking into consideration the chemical and structural similarity between CuSe2 and CuInSe2, we demonstrate the stepwise direct conversion of the structural template CuSe2 into (1–x)CuSe2/xCuInSe2 nanocomposites without the formation of undesirable binary or ternary indium phases. Through X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy it is observed that the structural template provided by CuSe2 serves as pathway for the formation of CuInSe2 particles in the size range of 5 to 50 nm

  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE)

    Score: Passed

I passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam in the state of Michigan in October 2014. I've completed this step in my career path with the aspiration of being able to pass the Principles of Engineering Exam (PE) in future years in order become a certified professional engineer.
