Design Public Group is in search of an A&D Sales Representative to join our team in the New York City market.

Overview

In this role, you will focus on developing long-lasting relationships within the A&D community as well as contract dealers and hospitality procurement firms. Given the breadth of the DPG catalog and the continued growth of ancillary furniture in the marketplace, there are significant opportunities to grow your book of business within your territory across a wide variety of projects. DPG has a well-established presence and reputation in the New York market and surrounding territory. The ideal candidate will be well connected and familiar with the NYC A&D community.

What You Will Do

  • Build DPG brand acceptance, trial, and preference. Develop and maintain professional and productive business relationships with Architecture and Design firms that educate, excite, and increase DPG brand engagement.
  • Contribute to sales – local and national wins - through solutions development, including needs analysis, product positioning, application consulting and competitive intelligence.
  • Support account development and retention initiatives relative to product strategies within selected significant accounts.
  • Create industry visibility and strong social ties through participation in industry related groups and activities; including those that support contract furniture dealers, procurement firms and hospitality groups that utilize our offering.
  • Align with DPG sales team on consultative selling best practices, product/presentation, specification development with designers, and relationship building design firm-wide (principals, studio/design leadership, designers, project managers).

What You Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working the Architectural/Interior Design or Furniture Industry.
  • 3+ years of relevant consultative sales environment experience preferred.
  • Furniture or related industry (interiors) experience preferred.

What You Are Good At

  • Significant experience in sales (interiors) and a proven ability to close business.
  • Knowledge of office and / or hospitality environment issues and general business trends.
  • Ability to identify and positively influence key decision makers and influencers.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, organization, and customer (internal and external) support orientation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with strong abstract reasoning skills
  • Embraces technology and is a rapid adopter of software changes
  • Ability to effectively manage international supplier expectations and communications
