Position: Academic Services Manager

The Academic Service Manager will work to ensure that customers (schools and college access programs) and Study Smart Tutors’ individual tutors receive support before/during/after sessions.

The position is a full-time, salary position that maintains and progresses the organization’s tutoring products, practices, and persons. The Academic Services Manager will report to the Study Smart Tutors’ Associate Director of Education.

Job Responsibilities

The duties of the Academic Services Manager is to provide support to our tutors in planning new instructional programs, integrating technology into the curriculum, and carrying out other directives from customers and partners.

  • Tutor Support


On-Site and Virtual Tutor Support:

Oversee preparations and progressions of our tutors and facilitators across our regions of service.

Visit program sites (primarily in Los Angeles) to ensure that all parties are well supported across academic success assignments: in-person and virtual.

Support the Education Team in carrying out conversations with tutors and facilitators before/during assignments.

Research and implement academic growth modalities (virtual/hybrid/in-person) and equitable services for our targeted populations.

Provide evaluation and feedback to tutors through classroom observation.

On-Site Customer Support

Maintain a site visit schedule to foster program partner-tutor relations.

Gather and navigate feedback from school administration, site coordinators, classroom teachers, and other program staff.

Update internal team members on program progressions from the client, tutor/facilitator, and student perspectives.

  • Additional Projects & Activities


Collaborate with the Study Smart Tutors Team to ensure a successful onboarding pool of tutors/facilitators.

Substitute tutor/facilitate when necessary.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in education or related field 2+ years of teaching, tutoring, or after-school experience, preferably with Title 1 schools.

Ability to visit schools throughout the greater Los Angeles area weekly.

Experience with Math/ELA intervention frameworks and practices.

Ability to effectively collaborate with team members.

Strong organization and problem-solving skills.

Mastery of Microsoft Office and G-Suite Apps.

Suitable work environment (Wi-Fi, desk, etc.).

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Willingness to travel outside of Los Angeles as needed.

Salary and Benefits

Full time salary $55,000-$60,000
