Our client is a privately owned Food Manufacturing organization looking to add to their Accounting & Finance team. Reporting to the Chief Administration Officer, this position will supervise the Accounting Team and collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Production, and Procurement teams. The company has engaged an external CPA firm to assist with its monthly reporting, so this position will be supported by a fractional CFO and Controller. This role will have 2 direct reports, with the opportunity to grow a team beneath them as the company continues to expand.
Job Description
Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including billing, accounts receivable, inventory, accounts payable, and general ledger.
Supervise weekly vendor payment runs and maintain weekly cash projection
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain inventory and cost accounting system and related processes.
Implement and maintain a system of internal controls that will ensure company assets are adequately safeguarded.
Provide pricing workbooks for quarterly re-pricing and new products.
Maintain integration of OrderTime (inventory system) and QBO to ensure both systems contain accurate data.
Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
Ensure losses due to inventory spills, spoilage and other events are adequately captured and reported within accounting and inventory system.
Review and/or prepare month-end reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
Provide monthly management reporting package to Chief Administrative Officer.
Assist in developing annual budget and reporting monthly performance to management team.
Follow-up on past due customer receivable balances.
Serve as onsite accounting support for operations teams and participate in weekly management meetings.
Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Provide insights into cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and sales, to gather and analyze financial data.
Provide financial expertise to support business initiatives.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related program highly preferred. 8+ years of experience in lieu of degree
Proven experience in accounting and cost accounting within the manufacturing industry highly preferred
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices highly preferred
