Summary

This position performs high-level accounting functions for the TCSO with little supervision. The incumbent is expected to develop computerized accounting reports and queries. The incumbent will run and research TCSO compliance reports for collections and delinquencies. They provide oversight of TCSO cash flow and facilitate the transfer of funds to courts, TCSO departments, other agencies, and the general public. They will also be called on to provide assistance to the TCSO Business Manager.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Reconciles trust fund accounts, cash bond accounts, petty cash, fines, and fees. Resolves problems associated with reconciliation and prepares reconciliation reports.
  • Processes daily receipts and prepares deposits and reports for cash bonds, fines, and fees.
  • Assists customers and courts with cash bond process and issues relating to reconciliation.
  • Answers phone calls. Addresses or refers questions as necessary.
  • Assists Business Manager with special requests and reporting guidelines and requirements.
  • Generates, reviews, and processes adjustments on collectibles and receivables.
  • Follows up on outstanding cases with local law enforcement agencies, to move funds to court and affect cash bond returns.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and processes training and education travel expenses for TCSO employees.
  • Reports and reconciles travel expenses for TCSO employees. Ensures accuracy of funding source and invoices external sources as needed.
  • Maintains reports to ensure proper accounting in accordance with County policies and local and state laws.
  • Creates, processes, tracks, and/or records purchase requisitions, Graphics orders, and towing expenses. Ensures availability of funding and accuracy of funding source.
  • Receives and inventories purchases. Updates purchasing systems accordingly. Processes refunds as needed.
  • Processes new and expired NTTA toll tags in accordance with the rules and procedures of the NTTA.
  • Processes incoming funds, maintains current balances, and issues refunds associated with bond collateral for attorneys and bail bondsmen.
  • Processes expungements in conjunction with Records Department.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

NOTE: YOU MUST FILL OUT THE WORK HISTORY and EDUCATION SECTIONS OF APPLICATION TO SHOW YOU HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION AS REQUIRED BY HIRING DEPARTMENT OR BE DISQUALIFIED.

Associate’s degree or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Three (3) years of general accounting, full charge bookkeeping, law enforcement, and/or law enforcement administrative experience. Law enforcement experience strongly preferred. Must have experience with spreadsheet and word processing applications, mainframe experience preferred. Requires advanced mathematical skills. Must be familiar with budget management and purchasing procedures and policies.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks that will include a criminal background check and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, educational attainment, or additional State or Federal legal requirements.

Physical Demands And Work Environment & Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, hear, keyboard, lift between the waist and shoulder, reach overhead, sit, stand, talk, and work alone and with others.
