Advanced Sales Engineer

US Farathane is seeking an Advanced Sales Engineer at our Corporate Tech Center in Auburn Hills, MI. This position is fully onsite in Auburn Hills, MI.

The Advanced Sales Engineer (plastics) provides engineering leadership in the identification, development, and deployment of new product and processes opportunities. Ability to work in cross functional teams comprised of Account Management, Product Design, Tool Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain and Plant Engineering to ensure new and existing products are conform to the expectations of safety, quality, cost, and customer objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform critical troubleshooting of current production and feasibility/predictive analysis for forward looking product applications.
  • Implement continuous product enhancements and provide post implementation support.
  • Apply practical design standards, lessons learned, and bring inventive solutions to customer RFQ proposals.
  • Propose white papers on new technologies that solve unique customer challenges, fill a market void, bring efficiency to existing operations, or create a new market segment – assessing cost, timing, and market potential.
  • Design, perform concept validation, and prove new technology is viable, while providing ongoing support to Program Teams, until systems are delivered and meeting KPI thresholds.
  • Collaborate work with customers and/or vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Participate in assessment/utilization of software applications and in-house deployment, including training of cross-functional personnel.
  • Perform requirements gathering, specification analysis, and publish reports on DFM/DFA, tooling complexity, process capabilities, capital/infrastructure demands, and subscribe to corporate business case proposals, providing necessary solutions that support improvements in margin and company growth.
  • Contribute to active database for tracking project, system or business process issues and resolution.
  • Innovate solutions for lightweighting current vehicle products through metal to plastic conversion allowing utilization of plastic injection molding technologies.”
  • Work as part of a project team, reporting progress and escalating issues to management and key stakeholders in a timely manner to ensure confident business decision making and successful completion of projects/reviews.
  • Create and maintain documentation for systems and processes.
  • Adhere to company project management methodologies and standards, including appropriate data input, workflows and controls (e.g. plan, budget, risk management and change control).
  • Ability to lead small projects or phases, ensuring the proposal and development of effective solutions meet objectives and are in line with business and system strategies.
  • Support Sales Team with both Customer Engineering and Purchasing interface.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of Plastics Engineering experience, preferably in automotive, high volume industrial manufacturing operations, including assembly.
  • Press/Tooling function and tool making knowledge – injection molding, 2-shot, rotary, stack, end of arm, etc…
  • Familiar with exterior/interior requirements - functional, engine, underbody, class A, etc…
  • Recognized material and process expert with ability to convey knowledge or train others.
  • Must have good organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong experience with data analysis and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Understanding of Costs and ability to design/develop with Cost Structure in mind.
  • Software: Proficient with Microsoft Suite – including Teams and Power BI considered a plus.
  • Proficient in use of CAD and/or viewer software.
