Position Overview
This position is responsible for developing response procedures to ensure the effective mobilization of protective, safety, and relief services for Austin Bergstrom International Airport ( AUS ). Oversees, coordinates and exercises emergency plans as required.
Represents AUS on all emergency response and business continuity preparedness drills. Establishes and maintains mutual assistance agreements with other organizations and designs and deploys Incident Command System ( ICS ) training for appropriate staff.
DRIVING REQUIREMENT : This position requires a Texas Class C driver license or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

ON CALL / CALL BACK RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may require on-call or call-back responsibilities
SHIFT INCENTIVE Shift work includes shift differential incentive for evening and night shifts and weekends.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

Oversees, coordinates, and exercises emergency plans as required by the Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ) FAR Part 139 and the Transportations Security Administration ( TSA ). Oversees, maintains, and exercises the Airport Emergency Plan ( AEP ), Irregular Operations Plans ( IRROPS ), Airport Evacuation Plans, Interagency Aircraft Accident Response Plan, Airport Continuity of Operations Plan ( COOP ), Disaster Recovery Plan ( DRP ), and other plans as required by regulation or by the Director. Coordinates emergency planning activities, including training and emergency preparedness drills. Represents the Airport on all emergency response and business continuity preparedness drills. Establishes and maintains Mutual Assistance Agreements with other organizations. Designs and deploys Incident Command System training for appropriate staff. Serves as an advisor to the Incident Commander during emergency response situations. Leads the Airport business continuity planning. Coordinates with airport sections and local emergency personnel to plan and design airport emergency and business continuity response and plans. Serves as liaison with Federal, State, and Local agencies, airlines, tenants, and mutual-aid partners to coordinate continuity and restoration plans, activities, and services. Develops, writes, and publishes operating manuals, technical reports, training materials, and operational support documents for internal applications and/or dissemination to other organizations; and maintains business continuity planning tools and database. Develops mitigation strategies and creates scenarios to re-establish operations in the event of business interruptions. Reviews and evaluates business impact and risk assessment to recommend methods and procedures.

- Knowledge and understanding of airport operations.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
- Skill in using computers and related software applications.
- Skill in planning and organizing.
- Skill in negotiating common practices between airport stakeholders and other emergency agencies.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
- Ability to train others.
- Ability to quickly recognize and analyze irregular events.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, tact, and diplomacy in all public dealings to include presentations.
