Responsibilities

Raba Kistner is seeking a detailed-oriented, dependable, and organized Architectural/Engineering Student Intern to join team in Pharr, TX. Under immediate supervision, the Architectural/Engineering Student Intern will work on preparing design and construction documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD, editing field reports, and performing field work such as taking photos of sites and buildings, and standard architectural design and construction duties when required. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Architects, Project Managers, Engineers, Senior Consultants and Intern Architects and/or Professionals in the preparation of design and detail documents for the Architectural Building Envelope and Forensic Consulting Services project work.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of technical drawings (BIM / REVIT / CADD format) and informational libraries.
  • Perform site visits to survey existing conditions and gather information to support the evaluation and remedial design work of the Building Sciences Consultants.
  • Understand, adhere, and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example.
  • Ensure the safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all documents and tools.
  • Update Supervisor on progress and delays on every task or assignment.
  • Ensure safe usage and maintenance of company vehicle and field equipment, as applicable.
  • Meet established project deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College or university student in good academic standing in Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
  • Considerable Knowledge of:
    • Fundamentals in Architecture and/or Construction Sciences
    • Experience with BIM/AutoCAD/Revit design and drawing software.
  • Working Knowledge of:
    • Architectural and/or Engineering principles, practices, and methods.
    • Construction sciences (materials and methods)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet company’s auto insurability requirements.
Intermediate to Advance Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to multitask and possess excellent communication, organizational, and judgment skills. Possess a current valid state issued driver’s license and meet company's auto insurability requirements.

Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc. Ability to effectively communicate information both written and oral and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently at a job site.

The work environment for this position may occasionally work near moving machinery, (cranes, lifts, etc.), vibration and loud sounds (spudding machine), heat related equipment (asphalt kettles or torches), etc.) and work in outdoor weather conditions.
