Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Operations

Job Summary:

The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Operations will serve as a member of the Athletics administration team and oversee all aspects of event management, serve as the primary game day administrator for all home athletic events, and monitor all athletic facilities, recommending maintenance and repair in coordination with the Colleges facilities department. The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Operations ensures that student-athletes and visitors will be treated with dignity and respect and that all aspects of Department work will be accomplished with the highest professional standards.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Establish policies and procedures as it pertains to the use of all Athletic Department facilities.
  • Oversee the scheduling and daily team usage of all Athletic Department facilities.
  • Coordinate and manage game day operations for home athletic contests that include, but are not limited to, set-up and break down, and hosting visiting teams, officials, and game day staff.
  • Collaborate with Facilities and the Event Coordinator on contracts with external parties regarding usage of any Athletics’ facilities.
  • Manage the hiring, training, and scheduling of interns, work-study, and part-time employees serving the facilities in both daily and event positions.
  • Assist with Athletic and booster club events, in-game promotions, and Athletic Department fundraisers.
  • Serves as a liaison to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics where appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Working Conditions:

The work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment; however, the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Operations regularly moves around a multistory building that does not have an elevator. The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Operations has extensive contact with coaches, student-athletes, and the community. Evening and weekend work is expected.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, and move around the campus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual and physical dexterity and visual acuity are needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
  • Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on a computer display screen, in hand-written form, and printed on paper.
  • Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a related field strongly preferred.
