Assistant Director of Foster Care

Are you called to a meaningful career leading a team advocating for Hope, Homes, and Healing for children in crisis? 4KIDS is looking for an Assistant Director of Foster care to assist with the oversight of the Foster Care department.

Job Description:

  • Oversee and provide supervision of the Foster Care program
  • Maintain complete knowledge and understanding of all contracts pertaining to Foster Care Management
  • Refine and develop when needed, systems of operation in conjunction with the VP of Programs and Director of Foster Care
  • Provide administrative oversight of Foster Care employees including: Oversee hiring and training new employees; Serving as a technical resource for new and existing employees
  • Ensure all contractually required forms and reports are submitted according to contract standards
  • Assist the Director of Foster Care in ensuring documentation for contract monitoring and audits is prepared and maintained
  • Track information to assess outcome measures
  • Ensure monthly placement statistics on bed availability are maintained – track monthly statistics and inform Community Based Care agencies of placement changes
  • Research and develop methods foster homes retention
  • Participate in foster parent recruitment efforts when needed
  • Ensure, support, and maintain open lines of communication with foster families throughout the training, licensing, and fostering process
  • Ensure all re-licensing documentation packets are reviewed and submitted as required by law and contract
  • Ensure ongoing support for licensed foster families - facilitating positive working relationships between families and 4KIDS while assessing and re-assessing needs of families and their children
  • Ensure the provision of continuing education classes for licensed foster parents in accordance with licensing and contractual requirements
  • Oversee appropriate placement decisions of children into 4KIDS licensed foster homes upon referral from Community Based Care agencies
  • Relay pertinent information to appropriate parties and develop/maintain positive relationships with Community Based Care agencies and other provider agencies
  • When needed, work in conjunction with the Partner Engagement department in representing the Foster Care Program at community events
  • Complete ongoing performance evaluations
  • Provide spiritual guidance and direction to staff
  • Travel as needed to various 4KIDS offices


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work or a related area of study from and at least two years’ experience in human services or child welfare programs. A bachelor's degree in social work or related area of study and four years of experience in human services or child welfare may be substituted
  • Must maintain current certifications determined by program including Child Welfare Certification
  • Two plus years management experience preferred
  • Excellent public speaking, writing, and presentation skills
  • Must be detail oriented, highly organized, and able to handle a variety of tasks in order to properly manage caseload, goal requirements, and meet non-negotiable deadlines
  • Adaptability to prioritize and shift with changing circumstances, handle requests, interruptions, and stressful situations, and effectively manage a crisis
  • Ability to navigate difficult situations with Christ-like professionalism
  • Competent in trauma informed care
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for emergences and events
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to analyze a situation, determine next steps, and implement them, as well as flexibility to shift with changing circumstances
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and databases
  • Must successfully complete initial drug screening and initial and annual background screenings
