Associate Director, R&D
Position Summary
The Associate Director of Research is a technical lead who manages research and development activities for new products and product improvements in NGS-based non-invasive diagnostic tests. The associate director actively collaborates with cross-functional teams and provides technical expertise to drive product performance and innovation. The associate director investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products, and problems.

The associate director investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products, and problems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Technical lead and representative of the research team in cross-functional meetings
- Drives product and process enhancements with innovative solutions
- Makes fundamental scientific contributions toward producing robust products
- Communicates with colleagues and R&D management to drive strategic decisions
- Is experienced in managing technical teams
- Performs data analysis with advanced analytical and statistical tools (JMP, Excel, R)
- Supervises the activities of direct reports or team members at the junior level
- Manages planning and execution of research studies in collaboration with statistics and bioinformatics teams
- PhD in molecular biology or related field
- 6-8 years of post PhD biotech industry experience
- Prior experience in NGS required
- Expertise in cell-free DNA, PCR, Hybrid Capture, and other advanced molecular biology technologies strongly preferred
