The new Associate Editor at PPAI will be a master of self-direction. You push yourself to get a lot done because the day goes by too slowly if you’re not staying busy. You’ve perfected the art and science of juggling competing deadlines and priorities, and we’ll trust you to stay on top of projects that you own. Equally important, you know a juicy story when you see one: In this role, you’ll be on the pulse of the most clickable headlines related to our industry and be ready to leap at a sudden opportunity to drive our audience share. You’re curious about the world and eager to stay up to date on product and marketing trends, fashion, culture, politics and more.


If you can write about all of the above with style and substance… if details matter to you (like, they really matter)… and if you’re willing to contribute to our team however possible while also forging friendly relationships with sources outside our walls… then you may have what it takes. We’re going to trust you to run with things and chart your own path, and share some helpful suggestions here and there. You’ll write for our magazine and website, manage the production of a daily e-newsletter and become a household name in the promotional products industry.


Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Report, write, and edit for all PPAI publications to drive member interest and value.
  • Cultivate story ideas and sources within the promotional products industry, managing overlapping deadlines and priorities.
  • Select relevant artwork and embedded content like videos and infographics to accompany your stories.
  • Contribute to industry discussions and community efforts on social media.
  • Participate in PPAI-produced podcasts and videos.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal stakeholders, industry experts, and external contributors.
  • Gather resources from various sources, including business publications, social media, and international trends.
  • Help produce publications within budget and deadlines.
  • Develop content for supplements, ancillary websites, and research projects.


Skills/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related discipline.
  • Experience in professional editorial or content writing experience.
  • Strong editorial judgment and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in AP style and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Social media engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
