Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Role:

The person in this position will be responsible for implementing ATI quality policies and procedures in the manufacturing part fabrication environment. Activities include monitoring various elements of operations quality, problem solving to correct issues, and reporting results. This individual will exercise a high level of independent judgment using a considerable amount of creativity, initiative, and determination. This individual will lead focused teams and will drive corrective action, preventative action, and continuous improvement activities on a variety of tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, document, and develop corrective action strategies for internal and external quality related issues.
  • Organize, coordinate, and interface with OEM’s regarding parts and transmission concerns.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement activities and corrective action activities to closure.
  • Provide professional reports on quality investigations, findings, and results.
  • Develop and/or complete plant reliability tests to analyze and solve problems.
  • Analyze product and process design to prevent and correct problems.
  • Develop, conduct, and complete required reliability, process, and product audits. Participate in TS16949 audits.
  • Communicate and coordinate activities with cross-functional organizations.
  • Implements and actively supports the plant and corporate safety policies and initiatives.
  • Implement and audit good 5S standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • First time quality (FTQ) improvement.
  • Scrap and non-conforming material reduction.
  • Countermeasure effectiveness/reoccurrence prevention.
  • Number of continuous improvement projects completed.
  • 8D closure speed and effectiveness.

Competencies and Behaviors Necessary for Success:

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
  • High level of knowledge of product engineering and manufacturing/assembly processes.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with business partners and diverse work groups to meet mutual goals.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001: IATF16949 requirements.
  • Ability to effectively use computer software.
  • Travel time to visit customers and other plants as needed.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent internship.


Preferences:

  • Minimum of years of experience in Quality role or similar.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving tools such as Lean Six Sigma or Red X.
  • Basic knowledge of SPC (statistical process control) methods and applications.
  • Knowledge of automatic transmissions.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and dimensional layout, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with SPC, PFMEA, Process Control Plans, 8D Corrective Action Strategy and Layered Process Audits.
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Gear Analyzer familiarity.
