Associate scientist, Oligonucleotide Chemistry
Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Oligonucleotide team as Associate Scientist in the Greater Boston Area (Watertown, MA). The individual will contribute to the development of our new drug delivery platform and to our clinical program pipeline. The candidate will be a motivated and curious researcher, with willingness to learn about numerous areas of oligonucleotide synthesis and purification.
The successful candidate will contribute to the synthesis, purification and characterization of oligonucleotides to support our research platform. The individual will work in a highly cross-functional team and will have an opportunity to make significant impact across the whole organization. The position demands excellent communication skills, can-do-now attitude, and the ability to embrace our fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities:
Quantify oligonucleotides by UV-spectroscopy for in-vitro and in-vivo studies using developed procedures;
Prepare and normalize solutions of RNA duplexes using liquid handler according to SOP;
Help the team to synthesize and deprotect oligonucleotides;
check duplex integrity by gel-electrophoresis;
Maintaining inventory of raw materials, consumables and oligonucleotides;
Help the team to develop and evaluate novel procedures.
Keep accurate experimental records in ELN.
Present the data to other team members.
Help with the general lab upkeep.
Essential Skills:
Ability to follow protocols, SOPs and safety practices.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
Excellent documentation skills and strong organizational skills.
Ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work in a fast paced and quick changing environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with UV measurements using Nanodrop, plate readers, etc.
Experience with liquid handlers: Tecan, Integra, Andrew+, etc.
Hands on experience with oligonucleotide or peptide synthesis and characterization.
Qualifications:
B.S (1-5 years of experience), or M.S. (1-3 years of experience) in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related fields.
Job title will be commensurate with experience.
