Department Overview

The Americas Division (“AD”) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) (“SMTBNY”) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the “Global Banking Unit (“GBU”), Americas Division” and “Global Markets Unit (“GMU”), Americas Division” which performs business functions. Planning Department (“PLN”) provides a strategic management framework for the formulation and implementation of integrated business and organizational objectives across the New York Branch. Working in conjunction with the EVP/PLN, the Planning Department researches, recommends and implements plans for offensive and defensive actions intended to maintain and build competitive advantage and sound organizational management. The plans recommended by Planning Department require input from all departments during the development stage, so that the plans become an operational guideline that is transparent and meaningful to the staff responsible for implementation and execution.

Your Position Overview

The Business Continuity Analyst reports to the Business Continuity Coordinator in the Planning Department. This role requires a deep understanding of business continuity planning and crisis management methodologies. The business continuity analyst will assist in maintaining and improving the business continuity program to improve resiliency and ensure compliance to regulatory requirements. The business continuity analyst will support preparation for and response to actual emergencies.

Your Duties Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Work closely with the Business Continuity Coordinator and Business Champions on projects that impact the resiliency of the branch.
  • Support the administration of the branch’s business continuity program, including:
  • Ensuring that program components (Business Impact Analysis, Risk Assessment, plans, strategies, etc.) are current and effective.
  • Coordinating business recovery tests and exercises, and draft After Action Reports to identify issues and lessons learned, including but not limited to:
    • Tabletop Exercises
    • Work Area Recovery Site tests
    • Emergency Notification System Tests
  • Developing materials for business continuity awareness to ensure all staff has basic knowledge of emergency response and business continuity concepts.
  • Revising and maintain branch wide policy, procedures, and manuals as needed.
  • Maintaining content on the Business Continuity SharePoint site
  • Supporting the Crisis Management Team to include supporting emergency communications, prepare and distribute situational reports, track actions and issues that arise during the event through close.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 1 - 2+ years of experience in business continuity planning
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to interact and work efficiently and effectively with employees across the organization.
  • Strong and productive team player and comfortable working independently
  • Professional designation – Associate Business Continuity Professional (ACBP, CBCI), is a plus.
  • Prior business continuity experience in a financial institution is preferred.
  • Experience supporting recovery during disruptive events is preferred.

The anticipated salary range for this role is listed above. The specific salary offered to an employment applicant is based on the individual’s qualifications, experiences, the job responsibilities, an analysis of the current compensation paid for similar roles in the local geographic area, and key distinctions of the job as compared to current jobs in the Branch. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
