Job Summary

As the Business Development Director for Scientific Communications, you will be instrumental in driving revenue growth and expanding market presence for our publications and medical affairs within the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology sector. You will lead the development and execution of strategic sales initiatives, identify new business opportunities, and cultivate strong client relationships to achieve business objectives.

The Business Development Director for Scientific Communications is a key role responsible for driving sales growth and expanding market presence for ClinicalMind in the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology sector. By leveraging sales expertise, industry knowledge, and strategic vision, this role contributes to the success and sustainability of our Publications division.

Job Responsibilities And Skills

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies aligned with company objectives to drive revenue growth for our publications and medical affairs service offerings.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and client needs to identify sales opportunities and areas for differentiation.
  • Business Development:
  • Lead the identification, prospecting, and acquisition of new clients through targeted outreach, networking, and relationship building.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including, but not limited to, pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop tailored solutions and proposals that address client needs and objectives.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively offer insights and recommendations to enhance the value of our scientific communications services.
  • Strategic Partnerships:
  • Identify and evaluate potential strategic partnerships and alliances to enhance our service offerings and expand market reach.
  • Negotiate partnership agreements to ensure mutual benefit and value creation.
  • Market Analysis and Reporting:
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes affecting scientific communications/publications and keep senior management informed.
  • Analyze sales performance metrics and KPIs to track progress against targets and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing sales activities, market insights, and sales pipeline.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, life sciences, or related field.
  • Proven track record of success in business development and sales within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, with specific experience in scientific publications highly desirable.
  • Understanding of the current challenges and opportunities in scientific publications.
  • Experience working with/for global and/or regional SciCom groups at pharmaceutical companies.
  • Possess product life cycle knowledge as well as be educated in the different phases of development and the nuances of oncology and rare disease.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements governing scientific publications and programs.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and strategic partners.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify market opportunities, develop actionable plans, and drive results.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g. Hubspot), Microsoft Office Suite, and other sales and analytics tools.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend industry conferences, and participate in networking events.
  • Adherence to ethical standards and compliance regulations governing the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
