About the role of Shared Medical Visit Certified Medical Assistant:

Kinwell is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant to join our clinic for the Lifestyle Medicine program in the Spokane area (6th & Washington or North Country Holmes locations). We are leveraging our investment from Washington’s largest not-for-profit health plan, Premera Blue Cross, to create a primary care offering that is holistic, seamless, and care centric.

The Shared Medical Visit (SMV) Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for organizing and facilitating group medical appointments, also known as Lifestyle Medicine. This individual will be involved in coordinating with healthcare providers, managing patient schedules, assisting with patient outreach, and ensuring a smooth and efficient operation of group sessions. The SMV Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care, improving health outcomes, and fostering a supportive community environment for patients with similar health conditions. This important support role is fully responsible for managing all aspects of the patient greeting and check-in and managing post visit administration tasks. A Medical Assistant works under direct supervision of a healthcare practitioner to use their clinical knowledge and skills to assist in meeting the healthcare needs of our patients.

What You’ll Do

  • Greets patients and prepare them for physical examinations, including obtaining vital signs, weight, height, reviewing medications and medical history, allergies, and performing all ancillary tests required virtually and in-person.
  • Assist physicians during examination and treatment.
  • Maintains supplies, cleans rooms and equipment, and stocks rooms with required supplies.
  • Operate and maintain autoclave machine in accordance with policy and procedures that meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and operate all clinical equipment including calibration and record keeping in accordance with the current policy and procedure and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Perform ancillary testing and tasks as ordered by the supervising practitioner.
  • Assist in surgical tray set up and injury or acute care as directed by the treating physician.
  • Maintain the lab supplies, equipment, rapid testing and all required record keeping, and quality assurance duties as required by CLIA.
  • Dispenses medications and appliances, applies bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the physician.
  • Assists in maintaining a neat, clean and orderly appearance in the center throughout the day.
  • Assists PCC with managing clinic and clinician schedules to maximize efficiency.
  • Facilitates daily Huddle review of visit schedule for any patients requiring assistance from multiple care team resources or who have special needs or considerations for a successful visit.
  • Follows HIPAA guidelines and safety rules as outlined in training.
  • Attend and participate in team huddles, center staff meetings, ongoing training.
  • Performs all duties to achieve or exceed established and desired service standards and create a delightful patient experience before, during and after the visit.
  • Position may support a virtual clinical environment where some job duties would slightly vary from an in-person clinical environment.
  • Position may support one or multiple clinic locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

What You’ll Bring

  • Associates Degree and 3 years’ experience or 5-years’ medical assistant experience in a clinic setting.
  • Clinical competencies to perform the duties of a Medical Assistant-Certified.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA), Military Training Network (MTN) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Washington State Medical Assistant Certified or Medical Assistant Interim certification, WA State Only.
  • Excellent critical thinking, flexibility, problem solving and communication skills (Preferred).
  • An interest in growing and developing skills and knowledge to be able to take on larger tasks or roles (Preferred).
  • Experience using EPIC (Preferred).
  • Customer service skills to ensure an enjoyable and pleasant check in, check out as well as pre and post appointment interaction.
  • Excellent phone communication and ability to gather history and current conditions from patients prior to appointments.
  • Skill operating computer in a Windows environment utilizing Outlook, Work, and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with associates and management at all levels.
  • Independent decision-making skills and ability to influence others to resolve issues.
  • High acumen for utilization of telehealth in healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team or independently without supervision or direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discrete and professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
