Clinical Specialist

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a talented and experienced Clinical Specialist with substantial experience in healthcare data, clinical quality improvement, healthcare operations, health economics, and experience in academic research including original publications.

This position plays a central role in the implementation of the MDClone platform at customer sites (hospitals, universities, research institutes, and pharmaceutical companies). Experienced candidates should have a great understanding of healthcare workflows and data structures and expertise in merging client strategic imperatives with data requirements to ensure MDClone platform implementation success.

The Specialist will also lead, train and support clinicians, researchers, and data science teams involved in research and analysis via the MDClone Platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the implementation of the MDClone system for various customers
  • Work with our clients and MDClone customer success teams to:
  • Analyze customer workflows and data sources to provide clinical insights and optimization of the data structure and content
  • Support the configuration and verification process of the platform
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of ontologies in collaboration with customer clinicians and medical Informaticists (including mapping MDClone ontologies to source terminologies)
  • Define and assist in user acceptance test plans for clinical scenarios
  • Support clinicians and users in defining use cases and rollout plans
  • Serve as a skilled clinical resource in support of non-clinical team members
  • Serve as the domain expert for any activity that relates to clinical workflows
  • Train end-users to use the MDClone platform (clinicians, researchers, data analysts, business intelligence professionals, etc.)
  • Promote, support, and accelerate MDClone platform use
  • Assist medical and clinical researchers in the design of retrospective studies, including data generation, analysis, interpretation of data derivatives and publication of scientific articles
  • Assist in methodology and content development related to various clinical and related non-clinical domains
  • Participate in internal and client-driven focus groups to gather requirements and enhancement requests for the product

Academic and professional qualifications:

  • Experienced Nurse Informaticist, Advanced Practice Provider (APP) or Physician (MD, DO)
  • Qualifications and experience in Health Informatics

Experience:

  • 3+ years experience in using healthcare data for clinical improvement projects or applied research (outcomes, costs)
  • 3+ years (minimum) experience working with or in a healthcare system or hospital
  • Experience in using data and analytics pertaining to any or all the following:
  • Improving clinical care pathways
  • Improving clinical or operational outcomes (e.g. readmissions, length of stay) or financial outcomes
  • Chronic disease management
  • Population health management
  • Learning health system concepts and data driven decision making for better clinical outcomes
  • Expert in clinical workflows - inpatient, outpatient – and the related flows of data and clinical data management around those workflows
  • Strong familiarity with electronic health records, and real-world data collected by EHRs
  • Experience in defining objectives and deliverables with stakeholders
  • Experience in mapping local terms to common healthcare vocabularies, medical terminologies and coding systems such as ICD-10, ATC, SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm and others
  • Experience in delivering group and one-on-one training
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Experience in communicating requirements to technical teams in a product organization – an advantage
  • Understanding of health insurance, billing, and financial constructs – an advantage

Travel requirements:

Ability to travel occasionally as warranted by project work and location; frequency will vary depending on project requirements
