Clinical Team Lead (Thatcher)

Description

Evidence-based counseling offered to children, families, and adults. All services are designed to meet the needs of the individual and family, ensuring that members receive quality care. Trained clinicians focus on strengths to support members and families through life transitions, behavioral concerns, and/or behavioral health and substance abuse challenges Play-based therapy is utilized for young children.

General Position Description: Assists the Clinical Team with directed oversight while maintaining a current caseload.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assesses the member’s behavioral health needs to develop therapy treatment goals and recommendations for follow-up support and services.
  • Administers screeners and standardized testing based on clinical need.
  • Schedules therapy sessions with members and obtains required consents for treatment and licensure.
  • Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselors and Licensed Independent Substance Use Counselors will provide assessment and therapy related to substance use treatment and recovery (A.A.C R4-6-705).
  • Provides effective crisis assessment and intervention, including arranging for emergency psychiatric evaluation/hospitalization as indicated.
  • Meets requirements of productivity standards set for Clinical Team Leads.
  • Completes progress notes and other required documentation using the appropriate covered service billing codes and writes comprehensive and timely reports as required by funding source and/or system partners.
  • Oversees and processes incoming therapy referrals, including a comprehensive review of corresponding clinical documentation and follow-up with the referral source as needed.
  • Provides counseling and assessment to therapy referrals not yet assigned to a permanent therapist and maintains a concurrent, reduced therapy caseload.
  • Reviews documents for quality and contract compliance. Signs off on documents as the Behavioral Health Professional. Assigns therapy referrals to clinical staff as needed.
  • Communicates team concerns to program supervisors and directors and maintains strict confidentiality of client and staff information. Provides availability to team members for problem-solving for unforeseen issues that may arise.
  • Covers for team members during absences or scheduling conflicts.
  • Provide a broad range of administrative and supervisory functions. Supervises assigned staff in accordance with EBF personnel practices including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and day to day scheduling. Participates in the process of ongoing professional development. Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts within the agency, members, and external agencies. Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with EBF Code of Conduct, Strategic Plan, Mission, and Vision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate license in social work, counseling, marriage and family, or substance abuse recognized by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and 6 months of therapy experience. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Regulatory
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Current, unrestricted AZ driver’s license with no more than two (2) minor moving violations or one (1) accident within the past three (3 years). Three (3) years of driving experience required.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card (employer provides).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (Employer provides)

Skills/Job Knowledge/Abilities

Must have a strong clinical knowledge. Extensive knowledge of managed care systems, AHCCCS/Title XIX medical assistance screening, and ADHS policies and practices. Able to establish and maintain a team atmosphere of communication and collaboration for all that reach out to the Department. Must be self-directed and be sensitive to cultural and linguistic diversity. Must be able to utilize DSM-5-TR to provide diagnoses for older children, adolescents and adults and the crosswalk to the DC-0-5 to provide diagnoses or diagnostic impressions for young children. . Must be able to manage high volumes and unpredictability of work. Must be able to remain flexible and reprioritize according to the changing demands of the day. Able to establish and maintain a team atmosphere of communication and collaboration for all that reach out to the Department. Excellent customer service in stressful situations. Maintains a professional appearance, communications, and actions. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Possess a high level of computer proficiency.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements (with Or Without Accommodation)

Normal office environment with multiple interruptions in person and through computer and phone. Travel to member homes and other locations as needed. Interacts with employees and members of the public on a daily basis. May lift normal office equipment and materials up to 25lbs. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms, and to assess the wellbeing of members. Able to communicate verbally with members and emergency personnel as needed for daily operations. Hearing ability for communication in persona, phone, and/or other electronic methods. Manual dexterity for typing, writing and assisting members with paperwork. Able to stoop, squat, reach, pull, push, stretch, ascend and descend stairs, stand and sit for long periods of time. May be required to work additional hours or days depending on circumstances.
