CMM Programmer

Job Summary

This role includes developing new and modifying/improving existing digital measurement system programs and executing these programs to measure dimensions of components to determine conformity to specifications. Equipment to be utilized in this position includes but is not limited to coordinate measurement machines (cmm's) and optical scanning equipment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop new programs for digital measuring equipment utilizing CAD models or 2-D drawings
  • Modify existing digital measurement programs to improve efficiency,
  • Read and interpret CAD files and 2-D drawings and identify appropriate requirements for digital inspection.
  • Read and interpret CAD files and 2-D drawings to determine appropriate tolerances.
  • Recognize, interpret, and properly apply GD&T call outs.
  • Assist in preparation of FAI / PPAP documentation by completing forms as necessary.
  • Interpret digital inspection results and provide feedback to quality engineers and operations personnel.
  • Aid in the development and design of tooling and fixturing required for proper digital inspection.
  • Perform certification and GR&R studies of measurement equipment to determine acceptability for use.
  • Verify check fixtures and aid in maintaining calibration system.
  • Create and maintain digital inspection set up documentation and usage documentation.
  • Maintain digital measuring equipment so that it is functional and meets needs of the organization. This includes cleaning as well as minor maintenance of machines as recommended by the manufacturers.
  • Train other employees on the operation of digital measuring equipment.
  • Adhere to all company policies as outline in the employee hand book as well as those for safety, quality, and continuous improvement policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification

  • Technical degree in an engineering related field and 3+ years of CMM experience, or equivalent technical training and experience as a CMM operator and programmer.
  • Familiarity and/or experience using the following: CMM, optical scanning devices, caliper, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and optical comparators. Usage of PC's.
  • Prior experience with MCOSMOS.
  • Knowledge and competency of GD&T.
