Job Title: COBOL Developer (Government Experience)

Location: Remote

We are currently seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL-based applications and systems to support government operations and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, business analysts, and other members of the development team to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality software products.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations, security standards, and best practices in software development and maintenance.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation activities to ensure the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of software applications.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in COBOL development and government IT, and share knowledge and insights with the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a COBOL developer, with a minimum of years of experience working on government projects.
  • Strong expertise in COBOL programming language, JCL, and mainframe technologies, with experience in DB2 or other relational databases.
  • Familiarity with government regulations, policies, and procedures related to software development, security, and compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and stakeholders at all levels of government.
