Communications and Marketing Manager

We are the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID), located in Bethesda, MD. Since 1973, we have been dedicated to healthier lives for all through the effective prevention and treatment of infectious diseases across the lifespan. We are searching for a creative Communications and Marketing Manager to develop strategies and execute marketing and awareness campaigns across multiple channels (email, web, social media, and/or direct mail), to promote NFID programs and resources, in alignment with the NFID mission and strategic plan. This role requires working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement content/strategies for effective marketing campaigns. Successful candidates will be web/digital savvy and able to think strategically and creatively, show attention to detail, and have strong project management skills.


Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, and working with the NFID staff team to ensure all communications and marketing activities are successfully executed, the core responsibilities for this position include:

  • Develop content and graphics for NFID websites, publications, emails, blogs, and social media posts, and materials for internal and external stakeholders
  • Implement innovative strategies to amplify messaging and enhance NFID impact
  • Managing partner relationships with external organizations
  • Managing, monitoring, and optimizing activity across NFID social media channels
  • Managing NFID email distribution systems, including management of editorial calendar and list management
  • Measuring, reporting, and evaluating results of NFID communication and marketing activities


We are interested in hearing from you about this rewarding opportunity if you have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in marketing and communications
  • Healthcare/public health related non-profit or association experience preferred
  • Proficient in digital design including Adobe (e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and Canva
  • Knowledge of broadcast email tools (Constant Contact), social media scheduling/analytics tools (Hootsuite), website CMS (WordPress), SEO, and Google Analytics preferred
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills with an eye for detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
