General Summary

GTI Energy, the nation’s leading research, development, and training organization serving energy markets, has an opportunity for a Contract Analyst within its Legal & Contracts group in Des Plaines, IL. The qualified candidate will assist attorneys and other personnel by drafting and reviewing a variety of industry & government contractual documents, implementing/administering a contract management system, and supporting various legal matters within the corporation. We anticipate the Contract Analyst’s initial duties will be 40% reviewing and drafting contracts such as NDAs and contract amendments, 30% assisting in the implementation of a contract management system then administering the system, and 30% assisting with government contracting matters.

Work Location

The position will be based in the Chicagoland area at the GTI Energy Headquarters. We offer a hybrid/core work week, where employees are remote Mondays and Fridays, and required to be on-site Tuesday through Thursday.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare, draft, and review standard documents and routine and moderately complex contracts (e.g., NDAs, contract amendments).
  • Undertake research on various issues related to contracts, corporate matters, and other relevant areas.
  • Assist in the implementation and administration of a contract management system, including development and maintenance of contract templates.
  • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on contract-related matters (e.g., accounting, purchasing, and business unit project managers).
  • Provide contracting advice and recommendations in consultation with a supervisor and/or attorney, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to overall objectives and goals of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience

  • Experience reviewing and drafting contractual documents and strong understanding of legal/contract terminology.
  • Eagerness and desire to learn government contracting and GTI Energy’s government contracting systems
  • Experience implementing and/or administering a contract management system (with preference for implementing/administering Lexion products).Government contracting experience is preferred (drafting and reviewing government contracts, subrecipient monitoring). Alternatively, eagerness and demonstrated interest in learning government contracting.
  • Experience in corporate, nonprofit, research and development, or energy sectors is preferred.
  • Contract management certificate (e.g., CPCM™, CFCM™, CCCM™, and CCMA, or similar) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software applications.
