Position Summary

As our Controller, you will be responsible for routine daily/month-end accounting and reporting for resorts under management. This position will be the key accounting contact for rental and food and beverage operations. This person will be viewed as the accounting expert for all resort’s operations: (a) knowing the contracts, personnel, and systems that are critical to operations, including payroll, inventory management, financial reporting, POS systems, etc., (b) understanding the accounting (and how business decisions could impact our accounting), and (c) coordinating with various departments within the structure as it relates to these operations. Further, this role will be responsible for reviewing and posting a portion of journal entries. Under the direction of the Corporate Controller/CFO, this role will

prepare documents for investors and owners and prepare monthly, tax, and ad hoc reporting as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Account for transactions of the resort property on a daily/monthly basis.
  • Accounting lead on all resort operations:
    • Prepare the resort property's financial statements by the 10th of each month and as required by operating agreements, and file the required tax returns (with the assistance of a tax firm).
    • Coordinate with various departments for each property as needed (including inventories with the F&B manager, payroll with the HR provider, and any updates to POS/PMS systems).
    • Actively participate as a business partner of the Company to understand the day-to-day issues and opportunities facing the organization and propose/implement solutions that contribute to our overall objectives.
  • Review and post a portion of monthly journal entries.
  • Assist in various monthly and ad hoc reporting needs as owners, investors, and regulatory bodies require.
  • Manage accounting policy documentation; this includes all process documentation and accounting policies.
Additionally

  • Month-end close for each property. Prepares/reviews journal entries for the resort property every month.
  • Accounting lead. Prepare financial statements and coordinate tax returns of properties as needed.
  • Ad hoc reporting assistance. Assists with ad hoc reporting as needed (for owners/investors, among other needs).
  • Practices & Procedures. Initiates practices and procedures in the performance of resort accounting to continue a “best in class” accounting function. Maintains relevant and organized documentation that supports accounting matters in external and internal financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • CPA designation (preferred, not required)
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting (MAcc) (preferred, not required)
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience working in a public accounting firm or corporate accounting department
  • Experience with M3 accounting core and resort accounting.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical, written communication, and interpersonal skills

Compensation & Benefits

Annual Salary: $85,000- $100,000
