Controller

Established and growing South Jersey Food and Beverage Company seeks a Controller to manage its accounting and financial activities, including internal financial reporting, general ledger, standard cost accounting, internal financial controls, compliance, collections and AR management and assist with working capital and asset management. The Controller ensures that the systems and processes are in place to provide financial information on a timely basis. He or she also serves as the CFO’s right hand and is responsible for day-to-day financial control of operations. The Controller works with the management team to support the overall mission of the company.

Responsibilities

• Manages the day-to-day financial functions of the company, to include the maintenance and timely production of financial records, reports and analysis.
• Ensures the proper operation and utilization of the ERP system by all functions within the company.
• Oversees implementation and maintenance of internal control systems and procedures and assures compliance with all regulations and practices.
• Ensures proper protection of assets and deterrence of loss or fraud.
• Establishes and maintains standard costing.
• Prepares additional reports as required and requested by investors, management and personnel.
• Oversees preparation of the annual budget and forecast.
• Supervises and/or performs financial functions to include but not limited to, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Receipts and Disbursements, Cost and Inventory, Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting, General Accounting, and Financial Analysis.
• Prepares purchase orders, pricing proposals, new account requests, expense accounts, commission payments, capital expenditure requests, and bank reconciliations for approval by the CFO and CEO.
• Directly supervises the Finance Department and the IT consultant.
  
  

Preferred Education/Experience

• Bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance) from a four-year college or university.
• 7-10 years’ experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Finance, with emphasis in cost accounting and general accounting responsibilities in a manufacturing and distribution environment.
• 4+ year’s supervisory experience at the managerial level or equivalent.
• Prior experience as a Controller a strong plus.
• Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Communicates effectively verbally and in writing and presents information in an easily understandable manner.
• Responds to questions and requests from managers, customers, and senior management promptly and accurately.
• Excellent mathematical skills with well-developed financial analysis capabilities.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
• Knowledge of of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
• Experience with Sage a strong plus.
• CPA, Chartered Accountant, CMA or equivalent designation highly desirable, but not necessary.
• Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems, be able to handle multiple tasks and have a demonstrated ability to manage computer operations and applications.
• Strong administrative and management skills as well as the proven ability to recruit, develop and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth.
• Demonstrated ability to get along well with diverse personalities while getting results in a tactful, mature, flexible and collegial way.
