FLEET MANAGER - 1000+ Vehicles - Nationwide US - REMOTE


Our client, a leading and rapidly growing Retail Fuel Services company, takes pride in setting an industry standard for efficiency.


Efficiency is particularly vital in the backbone of operations, which is fleet management.


We are seeking a proficient fleet manager to ensure the best utilization and management of the company’s fleet of 1000+ service vehicles. This role will be responsible for managing fleet equipment at multiple locations across the US. The candidate will need to bring in the best-in-class fleet management solutions. The role requires having hands-on experience in vehicle management, fleet safety, fleet maintenance costs and documentation management.


We’re on the lookout for a fleet management professional who is highly driven, has strong decision-making skills and is a natural leader.


Objectives of this role

• Purchase vehicles to expand and/or enhance the service fleet

• Devise fleet management strategies for the company, and ensure timely execution

• Ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the fleet management system in place, and make changes to improve as necessary

• Use KPIs to ensure that the return on investment is maximized

• Monitor and update records of fleet tracking systems

• Adhere to national, regional and company-wide rules and regulations while performing fleet management services

• Work with the Fleet Management Solutions provider to oversee repairs and maintenance of the vehicles in the most cost-efficient manner possible

• Provide reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress

• Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency


Responsibilities:

• Manage all of the logistics for the fleet, from GPS tracking of fleet vehicles to fleet administration and servicing of the vehicles

• Conduct periodic surveys and inspections of the vehicles and ensure that they are being properly maintained to maximize productivity

• Maintain proper documentation and records for all the areas of fleet activities

• Ensure maximum fuel efficiency through effective fuel management

• Managing the fleet program and enforcing the appropriate fleet policies

• Applying in-depth knowledge of fleet industry best practices to the organization

• Overseeing activities related to GPS management, fuel, repairs, and disposal

• Ensure the company is following local, state, and federal regulations

• Develops long and short-range maintenance plans/programs (e.g capital needs, annual budget, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that resources are effectively utilized

• Support in purchasing vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet

• Coordinating and/or scheduling regular maintenance on all vehicles

• Ordering urgent or emergency repairs as needed

• Taking preventive measure to ensure safety of vehicles and drivers

• Managing vehicle licensure and registration and ensuring compliance of the company with government regulations that have to do with the transportation industry

• Ensuring all fleet members have proper licensure and up-to-date training

• Providing reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance, fuel purchasing and consumption, and fleet progress including reporting out on established metrics and progress towards objectives

• Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency

• Supporting with all other duties as assigned by manager



Qualifications:

• 5+ years fleet management or similar role

• Successful experience working with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and vendor partners

• Ability to communicate effectively with partners at all levels

• Ability to act as a flexible and innovative team player and a hands-on approach

• Ability to manage time effectively and be focused on setting and executing clear objectives and priorities

• Commitment to excellence and high standards

• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm

• Ability to exercise strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

• Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

• Ability to travel to multiple sites is essential

• In-depth knowledge of the transportation industry and its current trends

• Ability to set and monitor a budget


Preferred skills and qualifications

• Degree or diploma in logistics, supply-chain management, or a similar discipline

• Expertise in budgeting and cost control

• Knowledge of fleet servicing, fleet scheduling, fleet analysis, and operations

• Solid customer service skills

• Sound working knowledge of DOT Regulations and Compliance

• Proficiency in using computerized fleet management software/tools (specifically GeoTab)
