Senior Corporate Controller

Palette Hotels' Finance team is seeking a Senior Corporate Controller. We are looking for a collaborative team player who can not only shape talent and enhance team performance but also ensure the achievement of business objectives. As a Senior Controller, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of financial reporting accuracy, driving profitability, managing controls to mitigate risks, and identifying growth opportunities while effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include closely collaborating with the Director of Accounting during hotel transitions, mentoring other Controllers, leading key projects, and driving efficiency and accuracy within the Corporate Finance and Accounting Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize experience and knowledge in hospitality accounting practices to deliver accurate hotel financials in collaboration with third-party accounting services, Operations, and Human Resources teams.
  • Conduct thorough P&L reviews to maximize financial results, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with hotel, regional, and corporate teams to generate precise forecasts, cash flows, and budgets.
  • Ensure accuracy in DRR (Daily Revenue Report) and promptly address any discrepancies.
  • Review all monthly hotel tax filings for accuracy and ensure timely payments.
  • Analyze financial discrepancies and implement proactive process improvements.
  • Provide support to Controllers and General Managers for forecast accuracy and continued professional development.
  • Oversee the financial aspect of hotel transition processes and treasury management for our portfolio of 30+ hotels.
  • Develop and maintain processes related to mortgage payments, payroll, insurance, and taxes for all hotels.
  • Educate external stakeholders on best practices and procedures, and train Controllers on financial control processes.
  • Assist the Director of Accounting in ensuring the team meets Key Performance Indicators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospitality industry Accounting within a Centralized environment.
  • Proven experience in driving process development to achieve results.
  • Solution-oriented mindset.

  • Improving team efficiency and accuracy in key processes such as hotel transitions and treasury management.
  • Ensuring compliance with processes both within and outside the Finance team.
  • Delivering hotel financials on time and with precision.
  • Executing hotel transition requirements systematically and accurately.
  • Enhancing controller knowledge of accounting practices.
  • Increasing satisfaction levels of owners and Operations teams in their interactions with our Finance team.
