Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking to fill a Cost Analyst position at its chemical plant in Borger, TX. This position requires a solid accounting foundation, encompassing both the necessary education and relevant experience. This person frequently interacts with plant leaders, commercial managers, and other members of the Finance Department in performing analysis of operations and implementing plans to improve business processes. The Finance Department aims to be a trusted partner that adds value by protecting the company’s financial integrity, guiding sound business decisions and offering enriching careers in a collaborative workplace.

Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking to fill a Cost Analyst position at its chemical plant in Borger, TX. This position requires a solid accounting foundation, encompassing both the necessary education and relevant experience. This person frequently interacts with plant leaders, commercial managers, and other members of the Finance Department in performing analysis of operations and implementing plans to improve business processes. Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly cost results and prepare monthly forecasting of operating expenses for the commercial business units and the plant
- Participate and help prepare site budget for the plant, consulting with cost center owners, summarizing information for the facility, preparing presentation materials, and responding to inquiries
- Collect, transform, and analyze required data to address ad-hoc requests, or to test ideas and identify opportunities
- Actively engage with engineers, operations, and maintenance personnel to understand finance related priorities, needs, and communicate insights into solutions
- Develop and maintain dynamic reporting tools
- Work closely with the commercial business units, various plant personnel including the plant leadership team, and personnel in various Finance Department roles at Headquarters to improve business processes, set up new processes or to accomplish job responsibilities
- Assist cost center owners and project managers with monthly accruals and other cost estimates
- Analyze and execute distributions and assessments of support costs to production units
- Prepare third party billings including interpretation of products and services contracts
- Review SOX documentation and perform/evaluate annual testing
- Assist with the preparation of presentations for senior management as needed
- Enter and report daily and monthly production quantities
- Calculate transfer pricing applicable to specific intercompany sales transactions;
- Reconcile on-site and offsite inventory storage locations
- Prepare monthly product cost reports for all products produced; Specific product cost analysis as requested
- Support offsite warehousing, subcontracting, and tolling SBU transactions and arrangements
- Analyze and resolve SAP product movement errors and problems;
- Participate and help prepare the annual budget development/coordination
- Analyze and maintain activity rates for both operations and maintenance cost allocations
- Assist with special projects as assigned, including governmental reports and manufacturing department reports such as those related to benchmarking, gap closure analysis, capacity utilization and lost profit opportunities
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance OR at least 5 years of relative experience
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Ability to accommodate extended hours due to closing schedules, budgeting cycles, & special projects
- Strong business analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail are required
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles, in particular cost accounting, along with the ability to make appropriate application of pertinent accounting policies and practices to specific situations
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate with employees at all organizational levels
- Should be a self-starter, be an active participant on teams, and proactively meet with customers to meet their needs
- Capable of recognizing, defining, and resolving issues. Ability to apply new technologies to improve business processes or solve business problems
- Experience with SAP FI/CO module or other ERP systems.
- Experience with PowerBI, SharePoint, Blackline, TRACK and Planful
