Title: Counselor/Student Development Specialist
Bargaining Unit/Salary Level: MEA Administrators Level III
Responsibilities: The Counselor, in conjunction with other TRIO staff, will identify students who are eligible for TRIO support services and help deliver these services in a manner that will increase student success. This position is responsible in coordinating student referral to other campus and community resources. The Counselor will provide academic counseling and crisis interventions for students and will monitor student academic progress by consulting with faculty and staff. This position will design, coordinate, and deliver an individualized plan for student success. Counselor will assist with planning and implementation of student orientation along with student programs.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Background in education, counseling or career services. Must exhibit effective written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with students and community resources. Ability to devise strategy for individual student success.
