Job Duties
- Analyze requests for credit, perform credit investigations by analyzing reference checks and credit reports to determine a credit rating and terms for prospective accounts in accordance with established company policy guidelines.
- Review all contracts for accuracy and submit to the Sr Accountant AR/AP and/or Corporate Controller for approval.
- Safe guard assigned company assets through proactive management while being responsible to independently make business wise credit decision and conduct themselves as a member of the home office.
- Proactively establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and Sales Reps to enhance customer service and promote sales growth.
- Input and maintain complete and accurate credit files, collection notes and records of all accounts.
- Prepare and distribute monthly customer statements outside normal monthly run.
- Evaluates customer records regularly and recommends that credit limits be increased or reduced, based on collection attempts, payment history, and purchase activity of customer with a strong focus on all accounts with limits and/or exposure in excess of $25,000.
- Review monthly Age Analysis; negotiate and secure arrangements for payment with delinquent accounts to minimize bad debt through routine collection calls and maintenance of lien tracking system.
- Place accounts on credit hold as necessary. Notify Management and Sales Representative of hold.
- Proactively address issues with division and customers, including timely release of orders, identification of credit and collection issues, account reconciliations and independent resolution of issues.
- Review and maintain lien rights and waivers and recommend accounts to be referred to collection agencies and/or attorneys in a timely manner. Prepare documentation needed for legal action relating to collection activity.
- Ensure no missed lien rights.
- Respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
- Complete credit inquiries from other companies as required.
- Meet or exceed monthly and annual goals related to Builders corporate credit policy.
- Communication liaison between Corporate Accounting Office and Colorado Division
- Maintains and promotes a safe working environment and follows all safety rules
- Complies with all company policies and procedures
- NOTE: These are the essential, but not limited, functions of the Credit Manager position. Management has the discretion to add to or change the duties to be performed by this position.
Experience
- 4-5 years experience in credit and collection
- Must have experience with contracts and legal documents, including risk assessment and administration.
- Prior experience with project management and/or operations is preferred.
- Preferred experience with Construction Lien processing, multi job accounting and reconciling, commercial contract document processing.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Basic accounting skills and general office procedures.
- Strong sense of urgency and self-motivation; ability to work independently and use independent judgement.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and customer service skills
- Attention to detail with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to effectively present information one on one and small group situations.
- Ability to work accurately with numbers, including verification and reconciliation of billings and postings.
- Knowledge of collection principles, processes, techniques and procedures, as well as industry related collection instruments including liens, joint check agreements and material securitizations.
- Ability to enforce an established credit policy and partner with sales and management to make strategic decisions.
