Position Summary: We are seeking a Data Visualization Specialist to oversee and enhance our organization's database infrastructure and data visualization capabilities. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, and managing our databases to ensure efficient data storage, access, and security. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to design, code, test, debug, and deploy databases and applications using front-end, back-end, database, and hosting tools. Your responsibilities will include writing queries, stored procedures, and functions for database development, and monitoring databases' and applications' performance, scalability, and security. You will evaluate existing database and application designs to identify necessary updates, performance tuning, and integration requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the modernization and consolidation of CIT-hosted Oracle databases and IRMB-hosted SQL Databases into a unified solution using Azure Cloud services.
  • Design efficient and scalable database schemas, create recurring data management jobs, and ensure optimal database performance, security, and reliability.
  • Implement best practices for backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning to maintain data integrity and availability.
  • Develop robust data integration and synchronization solutions to support seamless interactions with various data sources within NIH.
  • Design and develop necessary database components and scripts, and integrate databases with modernized applications for improved data management and availability.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop interactive and insightful data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Business Objects.
  • Optimize and enhance existing visualizations and develop new ones to meet evolving business needs, ensuring they are user-friendly, accessible, and provide actionable insights.
  • Integrate data visualization tools with underlying data sources to ensure real-time data availability and accuracy.
  • Provide user training and comprehensive documentation for data visualization tools to enable effective utilization and maintenance by the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in database management, development, and administration.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, SQLServer, Oracle, MySQL, Python, JavaScript, and others.
  • Experience with cloud-based architecture, AWS, API integration, and database technologies.
  • Solid understanding of data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Business Objects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with version control tools like GIT, SVN, or Mercurial is preferred.

Compensation And Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $115,000 to $155,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
