Job Title: SQL Database Administrator (Contract to Hire)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Work site: Hybrid – mainly remote but will need to go on site for break-fix issues, etc.

About the Role:
Our client, a prominent player in the telecommunications industry, is seeking a highly skilled SQL Database Administrator for a contract-to-hire position. The successful candidate will be responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, and performance tuning of SQL servers, both on-premises and in Azure environments. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for growth as the organization continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain SQL server hardware, software, storage, and performance.
- Manage and support SQL server clusters in a large enterprise environment.
- Identify and resolve performance issues, including blocking and deadlocking.
- Perform performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries and databases.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure database security and availability.
- Assist with break-fix issues and provide on-site support as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 5+ Years of experience with on-premises SQL Server.
- 2+ Years of proven expertise in managing SQL clustering in a large enterprise environment.
- 2+ Years experience in performance tuning and resolving performance-related issues.
- Bachelors’ Degree in IT or a related field or equivalent work experience.
Preferred:
- Experience with Azure SQL.
- Strong knowledge of T-SQL.
