Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. As a DBA, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our organization's databases. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and manage database solutions that support our business operations and data management needs.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Database Design and Implementation:
    • Design, develop, and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and views based on application requirements and performance considerations.
    • Ensure database schemas are optimized for performance, scalability, and data integrity.
  • Database Management and Maintenance:
    • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
    • Monitor database performance and availability, conduct regular health checks, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Backup and Recovery:
    • Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data protection and disaster recovery readiness.
    • Test and validate backup and recovery procedures regularly.
  • Database Security and Compliance:
    • Implement and enforce database security policies, access controls, and encryption to protect sensitive data.
    • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain database security compliance.
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization:
    • Identify and resolve database performance issues through query optimization, index tuning, and database configuration adjustments.
    • Monitor database performance metrics and implement proactive measures to improve efficiency.
  • Data Migration and Integration:
    • Plan and execute data migration projects between databases and systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
    • Integrate databases with applications and third-party systems through data synchronization and ETL processes.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Create and maintain database documentation, including data dictionaries, schema diagrams, and operational procedures.
    • Generate performance reports, capacity planning forecasts, and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
Skills And Qualifications

  • Proven work experience (X+ years) as a Database Administrator (DBA) or in a similar role, managing and supporting enterprise-level databases.
  • Strong proficiency in database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or similar technologies.
  • Solid understanding of database design, normalization, indexing, and performance tuning techniques.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Shell scripting, PowerShell) for automation and maintenance tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Education And Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; additional certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) are a plus.
