Job Title: DBA (Cloud, SQL)

Location: Albany, NY (Hybrid)

We are currently seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage, configure, and maintain cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Design, implement, and optimize SQL databases to ensure high performance and availability.
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
  • Ensure database security by implementing best practices for data protection and access control.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks, such as backups, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and review data models and database schemas.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and provide solutions to prevent downtime and data loss.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including data models, schemas, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct database capacity planning and scalability assessments.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices and experience implementing data protection measures.
  • Familiarity with data modeling, schema design, and normalization techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automation and scripting using tools such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with database migration and replication.
  • Certification in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Database - Specialty, Azure Database Administrator Associate, etc.).
