Digital Press Operator (2nd & 3rd Shift)

Position reports to:   Value Stream Manager


 


Summary:                 


A digital operator is a skilled trade requiring up to 4 years of apprentice training on various assets throughout the digital value stream before successful completion of the journeymen program. This position requires a self-starter with a desire to efficiently produce pressure sensitive labels and cartons within a team setting. Job duties include setup and operation of various pieces of digital equipment while following lean principals.


 


Job Duties/Responsibilities  -- The “What”:


 


1. Set up and operate digital assets to set production requirements per SOP’s and other related work instructions and control riders.


2. Actively monitors production quality and efficiency by completing all documentation and reporting in Primac accurately.


3. Trouble shoot machine problems as it pertains to equipment set up, with and without direction from the digital technical lead.


4. Support department and company Lean initiatives concerning production and comply with all policies.


5. Assist in minimizing the scope of remakes by identifying problems in a timely fashion through the use of the fishbone problem solving method to get to root cause.


6. Assist in the training of personnel through proper use of the appropriate Certification and Apprentice Programs. Participate in scheduled company training sessions.


7. Observe the physical work environment and associate actions to identify and correct potential safety concerns.


8. Achieve expectations set by the lead or supervisor through the use of the production boards.


9. Practice and support Leader Standard Work.


10. Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements:


 


1.    Safety must always be practiced and be a priority.


2.    Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.


3.    Ability to monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process.


4.    The ability to understand defects that may be encountered in the manufacturing of pressure sensitive labels.


5.    Mechanical aptitude for both trouble shooting and for maintaining the equipment to manufacturer specifications.


6.    Ability to train others following TWI methods.  


7.    A great attitude and attendance with the willingness to work overtime on short notice.


8.    The ability to make quality decisions under production pressure settings.


9.    Apply lean principals learned to your everyday work. Identify waste in the manufacturing process.


 


High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 - 4 years of printing experience. Strong Leadership capabilities with excellent communication skills. Ability to lead by example providing positive direction.
