Job Description

Our Award-Winning Client is searching for a dynamic leader to take on the role of Director of Emergency Services. This role involves:

  • Leadership & Management: Overseeing a team of nursing professionals to deliver exceptional patient care. Creating and fostering an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Departmental Goals & Standards: Developing and implementing goals and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
  • Operations & Compliance: Directing departmental operations including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management. Coordinating and directing internal/external audits.
  • Staffing Activities: Planning and monitoring staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Budget Management: Preparing, monitoring, and evaluating departmental budgets to ensure compliance with allocated funding.
  • Evidence-Based Practices: Integrating evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
  • Master’s degree (MHA, MSN, MBA, or related field) highly preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Emergency Department Services.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role highly preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

Licenses And Certifications

  • Current Alabama Registered Nurse license or current Compact State Registered Nurse license without restrictions.
  • Handle with Care certification.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) preferred within one year of employment/eligibility.
  • EMTALA & EHAC training in Healthstream upon hire and annually.

Skills

  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Candidate Details

Candidates should be registered nurses licensed in Alabama or a compact state, with substantial experience in relevant roles. Ideal candidates have prior experience with Andalusia Health, possess the requisite technical skills and certifications, and exhibit strong leadership abilities.
