Salary: The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $160k to $200k.

Summary:


The Avangrid IT Director of Network Technologies plays a critical role in overseeing and managing Avangrid’s Corporate network infrastructure. This role will responsible to ensure the efficient redundant design, reliable operations, security, and strategic alignment with company needs of all Corporate network engineering and network security services

This position will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and will report directly to the Senior Director of the Technology, Platforms and Operations (TPO) team, within the IT organization.


Responsibilities:

Develop and communicate a clear network vision aligned with the organization’s overall IT strategy.

Stay ahead of IT trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network technologies and operations.

Lead Network architects and engineers to design and maintain a robust, scalable, and secure network architecture. The network is made up of, cloud and on-prem datacenters, and 500+ nodes in 26 states of the USA. Infrastructure provides network services to all Avangrid Operating Companies.

Oversee day-to-day network operations, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.

Deliver excellent levels operational stability and reliability to the enterprise network infrastructure. Define operational programs and identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency and reliability. Foster culture of continuous transformation.

Monitor network performance metrics, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.

Implement and enforce security policies and rules as defined by Corporate Security. This position will overview the group of Network Security engineers in charge of designing, operating and securely maintaining company perimeter protection (both cloud and on-prem).

Anticipate network growth and plan for capacity expansion. Manage a solid refresh plan for on-prem infrastructure and technology evolution for cloud resources. Network expansion needs to consider scalability requirements based on business needs.

Ensure all network services are built with redundancy. Develop and maintain network disaster recovery plans. Define Test and validate network redundancy and resilience in a periodic basi.

Ensure compliance with industry standards (NERC) and regulatory requirements.

Manage relationships with network hardware and software vendors. Including but not limited to Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Zscaler, Akamai,etc

Lead a team of network engineers, network security, technical coordinator, distributed in a multilayer support model in three tiers. Experience managing service outsourcing on levels 1 and 2 .

Provide leadership and oversight on all technical aspects of the area, including technical engineering, operational readiness, early adopter and pilot programs, technology transition and transformation; technology adoption; service delivery and service support

Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Champion best practices in a high-volume, dynamic environment. Ensure the enterprise has the capability to support new technology and maintain high levels of service. Create a sustainable IT environment to facilitate growth while maintaining required regulatory compliance and end user requirements.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Ten (10) Years + of IT or Technology experience on any capability.

Five (5) Years as Technology Manager. Managerial experience in strategic project execution, strategic planning, risk management, and change management while engaging and influencing various stakeholders at all levels across the company.

Demonstrated history managing engineering teams covering some of the following technologies: routing, switching, enterprise wireless, VoIP, Firewall, antiDDos technologies, Web Application security, Cloud networking,

Strong history of managing complex efforts with demanding customers.

Proven experience providing executive reporting level

Proven experience in strategic project execution, strategic planning, risk management, and change management while engaging and influencing various stakeholders at all levels across the company.

Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities and meet target deadline.

Ability to communicate with and influence technical and non-technical customers, colleagues, and vendors.

Ability to share knowledge and mentor and manage less experienced team members.

Strong commitment to personnel safety and IT security.

Travel within the US and to Europe could be required from time to time.
