POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Logistics is responsible for creating and managing effective supply chain strategies for ensuring seamless flows of goods and services in a timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner. Responsible for the operation of a central distribution center and motor vehicle fleet for managing all inbound and outbound freight inclusive of the health system’s supplies, equipment, linen, courier services, and surplus assets. Responsible for establishing and/or enforcing Standard Operating Procedures supporting company policies that are designed to ensure the effective operational management of designated supply locations and their associated inventories at all hospitals, clinics, and outpatient facilities; and for leading a highly distributed staff spanning many locations throughout a broad geographic footprint. The Director of Logistics will have strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills and a deep and broad knowledge of information technology including warehouse management systems (WMS).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required. A master’s degree in business administration is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of ten (10) years of deep and broad knowledge of logistics, physical distribution methods and general supply chain management, with a preferred minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a director role in a contemporary distribution center is required.
Prior experience with implementation and operation of a warehouse management system (WMS) is required.

Light-Medium. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers and frequently to talk and hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and will be measured by Physical Agility Test.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- System Leadership: Provides system leadership and direction for all aspects of logistics, warehouse operations, inventory management, and supply chain efficiencies.
- Planning: Contributes expertise and guides the planning of logistics, warehouse management and inventory management strategies to assure current and future needs of the system are met.
- Fiscal Accountability: Manages the fiscal affairs of areas of responsibility within the established business plan.
- Leadership: Provides leadership and vision to employee partners in areas of accountability. Evaluates people, tactics, processes, and technology as it relates to supply chain objectives, policies, practices, and procedures to assure TH’s systems meet patient and provider needs and TH’s financial objectives and allows the system to compete with a leading-edge supply chain function.
- Critical Thinking: Analyzes data and trends for providing cost-effective strategies, identifying areas that need improvement and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Special Skills: Customer Relations and Cross-Functional Team Building Skills, Negotiation and Relationship-building Skills, Advanced Verbal, Written and Persuasion Communication Skills, Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills, Quality and Continuous Improvement Process Skills, Supply Chain Financial and Budgetary Skills, Ability to effectively work in a Matrix Organization, and Intuitive Listening Skills.
- Performance Evaluation: Develops Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for functional areas and measures, tracks, and reports departmental performances. Identifies deficiencies and creates corrective action plans.

EDUCATION: Master’s degree
EXPERIENCE:
- Healthcare system experience preferred.
- Exposure to and prior experience with lean manufacturing disciplines preferred.
- Prior experience in designing and operationalizing a central distribution center preferred.
- Experience with Workday supply chain information system preferred.
