Director, M&A

Jupiter Power is an energy infrastructure company focused on the development, construction, and operation of energy storage assets in wholesale electricity markets. Formed in 2017, the company is a national leader in energy storage deployment, utilizing its proprietary dispatch optimization applications to maximize the value of our storage deployments to the gird. Backed by BlackRock's Diversified Infrastructure business, Jupiter Power has a strategic and established portfolio of over 1,400 megawatt hours of utility-scale energy storage projects operating or in construction in the U.S., with a leading pipeline of over 11,000 megawatts in active development. 

Jupiter seeks to hire a highly motivated and experienced professional as its Director, M&A. The successful candidate will lead Jupiter's M&A activities across the U.S. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Source potential project acquisitions in collaboration with Jupiter's development and origination teams. Identify opportunities, assess competitive landscape, and recommend creative approaches for outreach and deal structuring.  

• Negotiate definitive agreements in collaboration with internal and external diligence teams. 
• Build and maintain relationships with key counterparties through direct engagement and attendance at industry conferences and events.   
• Prepare modeling inputs and support financial modeling process in collaboration with finance team. Communicate cash forecast and security needs with finance group. 
• Lead market intelligence function on behalf of the development group, including maintaining current competitive landscape and collaborating on market strategy. 
• Prepare board approval materials and support approval process with company management and board. 

• Substantially contribute to execution of the company's objectives and assist in board and other key stakeholder communications, including regular quarterly reports on origination activity  

• 3-7+ years of experience in energy project M&A, development, engineering, and/or origination and commercial transactions   

• Familiarity with energy industry transactions, including off-take and acquisition structuring 

• Experience with energy storage and/or renewable energy 

• Experience collaborating with diverse teams to successfully deliver complex projects 

• Comfortable with ambiguity and making business decisions with limited information  

• Eager to wear multiple hats depending on business need and project priorities  

• High curiosity and enthusiasm to innovate and formulate new ideas  

• Unafraid to take ownership and continually find ways to be effective within a highly motivated, fast-moving team 

Preferred Skills & Experience 

• Post graduate degree and 5+ years of experience in energy project development, M&A, origination, and commercial transactions 

• Network in the energy industry among targeted customers as well as other developers 

• Working knowledge of RTO operations, power generation and storage technologies 

• Proven creativity skills and capacity to solve problems with out-of-the-box solutions 

• Knowledge of energy trading and market pricing dynamics 

• A solid track record of success in M&A in the clean energy sector 

Jupiter seeks individuals eager to develop their core professional knowledge, learn new areas of the business and take on additional responsibilities within Jupiter's dynamic team. Secondary responsibilities will be tailored to individual candidate backgrounds as well as company priorities. 

Candidate should expect up to 25% travel. Compensation and benefits offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Location is flexible with a preference for Chicago, IL.
