Job Summary

The Director of Behavioral Health holds a key leadership position, tasked with overseeing and promoting behavioral health and wellness for individuals receiving services, their direct support professionals, frontline supervisors, and the community. This role demands advanced knowledge of behavioral health practices, strong leadership and management skills, and a dedication to fostering a positive and supportive work environment. The Director of Behavioral Health plays a crucial role in developing, implementing, and updating strategic initiatives, programs, and services to guarantee the provision of high-quality behavioral health services.

What You’ll Do

  • Manages and advocates for the behavioral health and wellness of individuals receiving services, their direct support professionals, frontline supervisors, and the community.
  • Collaborates with other department directors to drive ongoing process improvements aimed at enhancing service recipients' personal outcomes and satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and cost efficiency.
  • Supervises and supports Behavioral Health Clinicians and Interns to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Assists individuals receiving services in facilitating therapeutic activities, community events, and skill development classes.
  • Partners with the billing department to ensure documentation of services meets the requirements for Behavioral Health reimbursement.
  • Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with the medical services coordinator, vocational services manager, service coordinators and management, care coordinators, and department directors to ensure comprehensive delivery of services and quality care.
  • Provides consultation on supported decision-making, safety planning, relationship development, Personal Outcome Measures, individualized support planning, self-advocacy, enabling technology, and other wellness initiatives.
  • Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services to enhance behavioral health care delivery.
  • Establishes comprehensive training programs to support and develop staff members.
  • Coordinates daily operations and makes critical behavioral health program decisions.
  • Travel throughout the community and statewide is sometimes required and mileage reimbursement is provided.

What You’ll Need

  • Master's degree and clinical license in social work, counseling, or a related field.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective programs and services.
  • Expertise in clinical guidelines, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data, identifying trends, and making evidence-based decisions.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities, along with excellent communication, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Experience with direct support for individuals with disabilities is preferred.
