PRIMARY FUNCTION : The Director for Campus and Community Engagement utilizes strategic insight, research, and assessment to develop and implement plans for community understanding, outreach, and advocacy. The Director will lead the execution of community engagement and actions of outreach to broaden Thomas Jefferson University students’ involvement, education, and service to the community at large, while building reciprocal relationships with community partners and organizations. The Director reports to the Assistant Provost-Student Affairs and supervises an Assistant Director for Campus and Community Engagement
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lead the development of a comprehensive strategic plan to grow and deepen Student Affairs’ relationships with community organizations and agencies, to identify organic means for collaboration and reciprocal service opportunities.
Create program outcomes and goals that align with the strategic direction of Student Affairs and lead to effective practices.
Leverages social determinant of health knowledge and initiative implementation skills to work effectively with clinical and operational stakeholders to synthesize program information, deploy measurement tools and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets
Develop, analyze, allocate and review annual department operating budget. Assure financial resources are allocated appropriately and adequately to support programs and initiatives hosted by Student Affairs
Form a progressive plan for the intentional collection of feedback from community partners and agencies to evaluate needs and programmatic impact.
Continually evaluate operations and functions to ensure on-going effectiveness and impact of outreach, engagement, and service experiences.
Develop and lead community partner forums, think tanks, and dialogues
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES needed in addition to Essential Functions:
Provide vision, leadership and strategic direction to ensure the delivery and creation of fulfilling and meaningful student volunteer initiatives and opportunities within the Jefferson community, off-campus community and the clinical pillar.
Work with on campus and off campus partners to continually improve programs that engage student volunteers safely and in meaningful roles
Administer all student and educational outreach initiatives, locally and regionally. And implement new outreach opportunities, projects and programs in line with the academic mission of the Thomas Jefferson University.
Promote community outreach and educational initiatives across campus including: training of students at all levels; developing and facilitating cross-campus initiatives; and providing educational/training opportunities and will collaborate with outside partners, such as the School District of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Charter Schools and other education institutions
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS :
Masters Degree in education, social work, health sciences or related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Managerial background with at least five years of professional community outreach or higher education experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Photoshop or like program for multimedia editorial purposes, understanding of social medial communication, demonstrated knowledge of program development and creation
