The Director of Development will play a crucial role in the growth and success of our wind energy portfolio. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in all phases of wind project development, from site identification and feasibility studies to securing permits, managing stakeholders, and overseeing the construction and commissioning process. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent project management skills and a deep understanding of the wind energy industry.


Responsibilities

• Project Development: Lead the development of wind energy projects from initial concept through commercial operation. This includes site identification, resource assessment, land acquisition, and feasibility studies.

• Permitting and Compliance: Manage the permitting process, ensuring all necessary environmental and regulatory approvals are obtained. Work closely with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

• Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Address concerns and negotiate agreements as necessary

• Financial Analysis: Conduct financial modeling and analysis to evaluate the economic viability of projects. Prepare investment proposals and support project financing.

• Project Management: Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources. Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

• Technical Oversight: Oversee the technical aspects of project development, including wind resource assessment, interconnection studies, and engineering design.

• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with project development. Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges.

• Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project progress, financial performance, and key milestones.


Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, business, or a related field.

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in wind energy project development, with a proven track record of successfully bringing projects from inception to commercial operation.

• In-depth knowledge of the wind energy industry, including market trends, regulatory environment, and technological advancements.

• Strong project management skills, with experience managing large, complex projects.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

• Proficiency in financial modeling and economic analysis related to energy projects.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Willingness to travel as required to project sites and stakeholder meetings.
