Director of Engineering

Summary of Role:

The Director of Engineering manages all aspects of design and engineering at specified facilities, as well as the feasibility, design, construction and implementation of new facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role also assists with our third-party facilities and/or customers on new construction projects, conducting site visits, and implementing innovative solutions for sustainability.

Essential Functions and Job Duties:

• Develop a deep understanding and become the driver of efficiency in the supply chain, distribution, delivery network, and regulatory requirements, including food-safe environments, particularly with storage, handling and packaging of liquid and granulated products.
• Work closely with leadership and stakeholders to develop project concepts and feasibility studies, leading the design and engineering efforts for each new project from concept to completion, understanding throughput rates and necessary designs, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and company goals.
• Oversee construction and project management activities onsite, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, environmental permitting, and accuracy of the build, including coordination with contractors and vendors to ensure timely and efficient project completion.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and address any issues that may arise.
• Provide input on the layout and design of the project site to optimize efficiency and functionality.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of operating costs and workflow for the sites, including labor, utilities, maintenance, and ongoing expenses.

Required Experience:

• 10+ years of professional work experience
• Proven success in development and project management, preferably with construction, infrastructure, manufacturing facilities
• Strong preference for construction experience in a food manufacturing or handling facility
• Bachelors degree in Engineering
