Position Overview: The Director of Fleet Management (DFM) is responsible for managing fleet assets, and providing leadership and guidance to CR&R maintenance facilities and their teams of supervisors and technicians who provide maintenance services to our fleet of over 1000 Diesel/CNG trucks, and heavy equipment. The DFM will oversee our fleet portfolio and through asset acquisition and divestiture maximize value and ensure operational efficiency. The DFM will also provide oversight of all maintenance management systems to ensure work is performed in compliance with the Companys established procedures, safety standards, and federal and state regulations. Utilizing industry best-practices the DFM will ensure efficient and effective scheduling of maintenance services and optimal parts inventory levels to minimize vehicle downtime and expense. Responsibilities also include staffing and professional develop of maintenance team members.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage fleet composition thorough purchase and sales of portfolio assets to minimize expense, optimize efficiencies, and achieve maximum returns throughout unit life-cycle.
  • Coordinate maintenance operations across CR&Rs facilities using industry best-practices to ensure all maintenance work is performed in an efficient, safe, and timely manner. Provide scheduling oversight to ensure team member performance increases productivity and minimizes labor expense. Continually monitor and improve facility performance to achieve effective and efficient service performance that minimizes downtime while maximizing cost containment.
  • Monitor and further develop our class-leading preventive maintenance program to ensure CR&R vehicles and heavy equipment maintain exceptional in-service status.
  • Manage inventory control of service parts to ensure necessary parts availability to reduce vehicle downtime while ensuring maximum cost containment.
  • Maintain maintenance services in compliance with requirements of CR&Rs world-class safety program.
  • Manage service operations to ensure fleet compliance with procedural and safety requirements, and federal and state regulations.
  • Oversee maintenance team staffing to ensure appropriate fleet service level efficiency and implement professional development programs so team members achieve advanced understanding of powertrain, hydraulic, electrical, and chassis systems, to ensure diagnosis and repairs are performed effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop effective processes to ensure all maintenance policies and records support efficient maintenance operations.
  • Ensure external vehicle services and repairs comply with CR&R requirements for quality, timeliness, and cost.
  • Continually monitor facility performance and provide guidance to facility managers to achieve and maintain class-leading efficiencies and expense minimization.
  • Provide guidance to, and management of, maintenance team members for all administrative and performance-related activities.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years experience in a leadership position of asset management responsibility for a fleet of 1000+ Diesel/CNG trucks.
  • 15+ years experience managing multi-site fleet maintenance facilities for a fleet of 1000+ Diesel/CNG trucks and 50+ maintenance team members.
  • Advance knowledge of Diesel/ CNG truck and heavy equipment drivetrain, electrical, hydraulic and structural systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of safe maintenance practices, and DOT, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior responsibility for budgetary management of multi-site maintenance facilities.
  • CAFM and ASE Certified Master Medium-Heavy Truck Technician certifications preferred.
  • Commercial drivers license.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Management, Technology, or related field required, Masters Degree preferred.
