The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for auditing Merrill Gardens’ communities to assure that they are following state regulations and Merrill Garden’s Policy and Procedures. Responsible for planning, conducting and leading clinical audits in accordance with state regulations and Merrill Gardens standards. Will also act as a consultant providing training to staff, advice on hiring and consultative interaction on issues that relate to AL and MC. Adheres to the customer service philosophy by providing excellent customer service to team members, residents and their families as defined by Merrill Gardens policy.

If you are someone with:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in business or health related field, Long Term Care Administration or Health Care
  • Administration required
  • RN or LPN license preferred
  • Five plus years related experience.
  • Five plus years’ experience in Assisted Living
  • Five plus years working with Care Systems
  • Five plus years working at the organizational level to create and manage effective policy and process models.


The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to Residents and Team Members per HERO program standards.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations.
  • Lead clinical audit functions and update auditing processes, as necessary.
  • Identify training and process gaps impacting compliance and suggest improvement solutions.
  • Track audit trends to address areas of deficit proactively.
  • Collaborate with VPs of Operations and Regional Nurses for guidance and action plan follow-ups.
  • Work with General Manager, Care team, and residents to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Health Services to create and provide training tools for assessing resident needs and delivering Assisted Living services.
  • Ensure resident needs are met through the community's Assisted Living Program.
  • Review resident charges to ensure accuracy.
  • Consult on related areas such as Activities and Food Service for Assisted Living residents to ensure quality improvement.
  • Stay updated on Federal, State, and industry standards and inform communities of changes.
  • Provide input for Merrill Gardens’ Operations Policies Guide to reflect state differences.
  • Conduct inspection reports and distribute scores to Management and Operations teams.
  • Develop and update tools for Health Services Audits and conduct full audits with feedback.
  • Review regulatory updates, implement necessary changes, and update policies accordingly.
  • Communicate policy and procedure changes to relevant Department Heads.
  • Train staff as needed.


The salary range for this position listed above will vary based on qualifications, experience, education/additional licensure, and other objective factors. Hiring at the maximum is not typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
