The League of Wisconsin Municipalities, a member services organization dedicated to supporting the cities and villages of Wisconsin, is seeking a Director of Strategic Engagement. **Key Responsibilities:**
**Advertising and Promotion:**
- Lead Business Membership and Strategic Partnership programs to foster engagement with existing and prospective relationships in support of municipalities.
- Establish measurable outcomes for success of the program, as well as strategies to meet or exceed those outcomes.
- Promote exposure opportunities in various mediums such as print, digital, and events.
- Work closely with League Communications to ensure a coordinated approach to the creation of materials used in engagement and other communication efforts.
**Partnership and Sponsorship Management:**
- Develop and maintain relationships with sponsors, business members, and strategic partners that align with our mission to support Wisconsin municipalities.
- Recruit and manage sponsorships for various events and trainings for local governments.
- Develop and execute regular promotional campaigns for business members and partners with emphasis on specific fields of interest such as building inspectors, attorneys, governing body members, and chief executives.
**Event and Expo Management:**
- Oversee the development and execution of the exhibitor expo at conferences.
- Recruit exhibitors, oversee website, and ensure all stakeholders receive regular updates.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts with expo companies, including layout and mapping specifics.
- Support speaker recruitment for conferences involving business members, strategic partners, and industry experts.
- Develop and promote member-facing initiatives such as the Products & Services Guide to enhance member benefits.
- Act as primary contact for sponsors at virtual and in-person events.
- Oversee AV execution at events.
- Support the deployment of event engagement software like Whova for conferences.
- Develop relationships with other state Leagues to identify best practices in member engagement and satisfaction.
- Support oversight of the membership database, develops engagement benchmarks, monitors and promote engagement activity.
- Develop and delivers presentations designed to promote League membership, services and products.
- Work in conjunction with other League staff to manage the welcoming process for new member cities and for new city officials.
**Supervision**
This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and supervises the Events Manager, Project Manager, and Administrative Assistant.
**Qualifications:**
- Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Marketing, or related field. Professional credentials such as Certified Meeting Planner (CMP), Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) or Association Executive (CAE) and/or relevant time in career will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal government, partnership development, event management, or related fields, ideally within a non-profit or municipal context.
- Proficiency in software platforms, databases, and electronic communications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with a variety of stakeholders from local government officials to business executives.
-Ability to attend functions beyond normal working hours including some overnight travel.
**Desirable qualifications:**
Masters degree and/or other relevant credentials.
Experience working in a membership association
Experience with membership outreach, engagement
Experience working with vendor and business partnerships
Proficiency in using digital marketing tools and event management platforms.
Experience with in-person events and development of strategic partnerships.
